Faily Consumer Science (07-08)

CLOTHING 1:   Introductory program to sewing, covering textiles, basic sewing skills and terminology.  Students choose garments or items to make that in­clude zippers, gathering, topstitching, hemming, etc.  Projects can be un­lined jackets, skirts, duffle bags, outdoor kits and others.  Students must pay for their own projects. $5.00 lab fee will be required.

CLOTHING II:  For students who have taken Clothing I, this is a continuation class, providing a chance to practice and perfect what they have learned.  Projects will be limited to the student's imagination and skill.  The student will work independently of the Clothing I class, however are enrolled during the same class period.

BEST OF FOODS:  Students gain knowledge and skills in the area of: safety, measuring, nutri­tion, meal plan­ning, and table setting.  Cooking labs use this knowledge and skill in preparation of quick breads, yeast breads, fruits and vegeta­bles, milk and egg cookery, microwaves and others.  This course is de­signed to teach the student basic skills in cooking.   $10.00 lab fee will be required.

BEST OF FOODS II:  As a continuation class of Best of Foods, students will plan and prepare complete meals using the knowledge gained in Best of Foods.  $10.00 lab fee will be required.  Prerequisite:  Best of Foods and instructor's consent.
