I grew up in Walla Walla and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1981. I went to the University of Idaho and graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology in 1985. My undergraduate program included an emphasis in Medical Technology because I planned to work in a hospital lab. After two years of working school breaks and summers at St. Mary's Hospital lab, I decided lab work was not for me and I enrolled in the School of Education at Washington State University. I graduated from that program in 1986 with endorsements to teach high school biology, chemistry and physics. I earned a Master in Science Education from Walla Walla College in 1991.
I have taught science at Mac-Hi since August of 1986. I understand that science is difficult for some students to understand but I believe if students attend class every day and are engaged in learning that they will succeed. Students who need a little extra are encouraged to come in for tutoring before or after school.
