Introduction To Woods:  An introduction to the field of wood technology. This is an excellent foundation course for any career in Industrial and Engineering Technology.  It is designed to instruct students in the areas of reading project drawings, knowledge of woods and uses, calculation of materials and project procedures.  A major emphasis will be placed on shop safety, proper hand and power tool usage and wood processes.  Lab Fee is $10 per semester- plus cost of project materials.

Intermediate Wood Technology:  An advancement of the basic knowledge acquired in Introduction to Woods.  Students will learn numerous joinery designs, wood lathe techniques, and wood lamination.  Student will also have the opportunity to make individual projects.  Prerequisite: Intro to Woods and instructor’s approval.  Lab Fee is $10 per semester- plus cost of project materials.

Advanced Wood Technology:  An application of the woodworking techniques and skills applied to the area of manufacturing and mass production.  Students will learn about fixtures and jigs, marketing, and estimating projects.  Student will be involved in a student run business where they are responsible for making, marketing, and selling various wood products.  Student will also have the opportunity to make individual projects.  Prerequisite: Intro to Woods, Intermediate Wood Tech and instructor’s approval.  Lab Fee is $10 per semester- plus cost of individual project materials.

Introduction To CAD (Computer Aided Drafting):  A basic course in drafting principals and application.  This is an excellent foundation course for any career in Industrial and Engineering Technology.  Students will learn about drafting careers, design and sketching, geometry for drafting, multiview drawing, and dimensioning.  Lab Fee is $5

Intermediate CAD (Computer Aided Drafting):  A continuation of the skills learned in Intro to CAD.  Student will learn about sectional views, auxiliary views, descriptive geometry, fasteners, pictorial drawing, working drawings, and architectural drafting.  Students may earn a dual credit with BMCC upon successful completion of Intro to CAD and Intermediate CAD.  Prerequisite: Intro. To CAD and instructors approval.  Lab fee is $5 per semester.

Advanced CAD (Computer Aided Drafting):  A continuation of the skills learned in Intro and intermediate CAD.  Students will learn about solid modeling.  Solid modeling is drafting in 3D.  This is state of the art industrial standard course.  Students may earn a dual credit with BMCC upon successful completion.  Prerequisite: Intro. To CAD, Intermediate CAD and instructors approval.  Lab fee is $5 per semester.
