DRAWING I
Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art
This class is an introduction to drawing with pencils, charcoal, oil, pastels, marking pens, pen and ink, chalks, conte, prism color, various drawing surfaces and scratchboard. Students will be drawing from life, imagination, still life, the figure, portraits and memory, using the elements and principles of design. Students will work on improving technique and learning to "see," with an introduction to perspective and proportion. The focus in this class is to stimulate interest in art; show the importance of success, develop creativity, develop ap¬preciation for the visual arts, develop awareness of art history and aesthetics, develop problem-solving skills, and become aware of art related careers. The class includes one 3-dimensional project. Lab Fee is $6.00 for the semester.
DRAWING II
Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art
The prerequisite for this class is successful completion of Drawing I with a passing grade. This class will work semi-independently within class structure at a higher level with greater flexibility of project selection, and more complex subject matter, techniques and problem solving. The student will be able to work semi-independently in the area of art designated; complete free-project forms for projects not in class curriculum; develop drawing skills; further develop creativity and personal style; utilize the elements and principles of design; improve techniques in use of various media; develop appreciation for the visual arts and aesthetics; further develop awareness of art history; use vocabulary and terminology correctly; and become aware of art-related careers. Lab Fee is $6.00 for the semester.
DRAWING III
Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art
