Painting

PAINTING I

Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art

This class is an introduction to watercolor, multimedia, acrylics, oils and collage. Students will explore various types of materials and techniques; use the elements and principles of design with an emphasis on experimentation and problem solv¬ing. The focus of this class is to stimulate interest in art, develop drawing skills, creativity, an appreciation for the visual arts and an awareness of art history, aesthetics, especially famous painters. There is one 3-dimensional project. Lab Fee is $6.00 for the semester.

PAINTING II

Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art

The prerequisite for this class is successful completion of Painting I with a C or higher. Students will work semi-independently within the Painting I class at a higher level with greater flexibility of project selection, more complex subject matter, techniques and problem solving. The student will complete free-project forms for projects not in the class curriculum, develop drawing skills, further develop creativity and personal style, utilize the elements and principles of design, improve techniques in use of various media, develop appreciation for the visual arts and aesthetics, awareness of art history; use vocabulary and terminology correctly, and become aware of art-related careers. Lab Fee is $6.00 for the semester.

PAINTING III

Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art
