Sculpture

SCULPTURE I

Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art

This class will be expose students to the different use of materials such as paper, found ob¬jects/household items, foil, wax, modeling clay, plaster, ceramic clay, wood, soap, junk, metals and textiles for creating sculpture. Students will gain experience in additive and subtractive methods with an emphasis on visualization and exploration. Students will learn the proper use of sculp¬ture tools and equipment. Subject matter will include figures, nonobjective art, realistic animals, variable scales and abstract art. Students will use the elements and principles of design, develop drawing skills, develop growth in technical use of the media, creativity, appreciation for the visual arts and aesthetics and develop an awareness of art history, especially in the area of sculpture. Lab Fee is $6.00 for the semester.

SCULPTURE II

Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art

The prerequisite for this class is successful completion of Sculpture I with a C or higher. This class will work semi-independently within the Sculpture I class at a higher level with greater flexibility of project selection, more complex subject matter, techniques and problem solving. Students will complete free-project forms for projects not in the class curriculum, develop drawing skills, further develop creativity and personal style, utilize the elements and principles of design; improve techniques in use of various media; develop an appreciation for the visual arts and aesthetics, an awareness of art history; use vocabulary and terminology correctly, and become aware of art-related careers. Lab Fee is $6.00 for the semester.

SCULPTURE III

Grade Level: 9,10,11,12
Course Length: 1 semester
Credits: ½ Elective/Fine Art
